Advocating for and Supporting Delivery of Socio-Economic Development
Centenary works with communities and community based organizations and people in their communities mainly young people, women and people with disabilities to promote socio-economic wellbeing of the vulnerable, minorities, people at risks and people in fragile contexts. These interventions are delivered through several strategies including strategic advocacy, trainings, risk communication and Community engagements, shifting norms and evidence generation our focus areas include;
- Health and wellbeing
We promote health and wellbeing of all through delivery of health commodities, services and information by and with the communities for their improved wellbeing. The strategic areas envision a healthy society with access to quality services for preventive and curative care.
Under this body of work, we focus on RMNCAH-N and HIV for improved health of women, children and adolescents, SGBV, WASH and mental health.
To realize the objectives, CIA also supports advocacy and Stakeholder Engagements around;

- Livelihoods and Employability
We promote and support programs aimed at enhancing both self and wage-based employment and employability of people, more so young people and women.
Under this area, we focus on SMEs support, agriculture and agri-business development and skills development for employability.
SMEs and social enterprises are key players in the economy and employ millions. We support SMEs in conducting marketing assessment, business modeling, developing strategy, legal compliance, and staff training, among others. We are particularly working with SMEs around construction, arts, ICT, food and nutrition, transport and agriculture.
Agriculture is the backbone of Kenyan economy and has potential for generating income, reducing poverty and dependency and household expenditures. We promote self and wage based employment; and subsistence agricultural activities through trainings, mentorship and linkages to market and credit and learning opportunities. We envision to create a Rural Farmers Hub to support research, mentorship, collaboration and learning.
Key Outcome: The marginalized and vulnerable people, especially women and youth, have improved sustainable income and better livelihoods
